Belron has always had a strong sense of responsibility to give back to the communities we serve. Giving back is an essential part of how we do business - set out in our Responsible Business Framework.
We encourage all our colleagues to get involved in supporting their local and global communities, and firmly believe that we benefit from this too – as we collectively feel the power of coming together to do good.
Every year, thousands of us across the world do amazing things to give something back to society.
In 2022 alone, we gave back a total of €8.5m to support our communities.
Across the Belron family of businesses we give back by raising funds, sharing skills and resources and volunteering our time. In 2022 we raised just over €4.2 million across our countries to support local organisations such as food banks, mental health charities and many community groups.
Our Spirit of Belron Challenge (SOBC) is all about making a difference for those around us. In 2023, 12,000 colleagues, partners, family and friends came together to walk, cycle, run, swim and travel by wheelchair; raising €2.5m for our charity partner Afrika Tikkun. This will provide vital help for children and young people in South Africa – who need our support more than ever.
Our roots are in South Africa and we’re proud of our long-standing relationship with partner charity Afrika Tikkun. Afrika Tikkun runs five centres in South Africa, looking to end child poverty and youth unemployment.
The whole Belron family comes together to raise money for the charity each year with our Spirit of Belron Challenge and we’re so proud that since 2002 we have donated over €18 million to Afrika Tikkun and we support the charity in many other ways such as mentoring.
In February 2020, Gary Lubner (our former CEO) launched the Belron Ronnie Lubner Charitable Foundation, to continue the longstanding commitment his father, Ronnie Lubner, had made to give back to the community. Ronnie believed passionately in sharing success with those in society whose lives are less fortunate than ours.
Since its launch, the Foundation has donated over €6.7 million to causes around the world, helping 350 charities across six continents. It has also responded to the humanitarian crisis resulting from the war in Ukraine and the flood disaster in Pakistan.
